Workplaces that Transform

At Spencer + Company, we believe a well-designed workplace not only shapes, but also enhances the dynamic of a company, and that communication, productivity and value increase when employees feel supported and inspired by their space. Our singular purpose is to elevate human potential by creating workplaces that improve employee engagement, workspace collaboration and open office innovation — generating prosperity for our clients and contributing directly to their long-term success.

In partnership with our clients, we collaborate and continuously iterate to gain an in-depth understanding of their unique workplace culture, needs and future vision. Our listen-first approach helps us clearly define goals — be it talent attraction, employee satisfaction, well-being and retention, or growth — and develop office space planning and workplace solutions that balance our clients’ objectives with the well-being of their employees.

We apply a holistic design perspective complimented by contemporary design methods and principles of Industrial-organizational psychology. We create inspiring work environments and believe that enhancing the interior environment dramatically improves employee engagement, workplace collaboration, happiness and productivity. We remain at the forefront of industry trends and develop workplace solutions that maximize the amount of natural light and that are defined through our mastery of colors and textures. And we work to incorporate a client’s personal aesthetic and to develop custom-tailored palettes and finishing packages that are both functional and timeless.

The Placemaking Process

Our four-phase placemaking process focuses on listening to our clients’ needs and goals, applying collaborative workplace strategies, and executing a design plan according to our proven approach.

Phase 1: Listening

We’ll kick-off the process at our showroom — with a tour of our space and an overview of how it has been designed to maximum efficiency and collaboration. We’ll then meet in our listening room and delve into who you are, what you need in a workplace, what your employee workstyles are and how your departments function and collaborate. We’ll want to know about your goals for the new space — perhaps talent attraction, employee satisfaction, well-being and retention, growth — or all of the above.

Phase 2: Planning

Utilizing workplace strategies and an iterative office design process, our team collaborates to layout a space that addresses the goals established in Phase 1. Your team’s workstyles will be a major focus throughout this process, and the floorplan we ultimately present will highlight how varying workstyles function within your new space. We value your perspective in this process, and will work to finalize a floorplan based on your input and feedback. Edits to an office layout plan can be made in real-time using Bluescape — our proprietary virtual collaboration environment.

Phase 3: Solutions

Once a office design plan is finalized that best suits your team’s flow and workstyles, we bring it to life with branding, color and office furniture. Multiple options will be provided in this phase and we’ll meet with you to view 3D renderings of the space and flythroughs using Oculus VR Headsets. Any additional changes to the plans or finishes during this phase can easily be made in-person or through Bluescape and incorporated into the project plan before moving on to the next phase.

Phase 4: Alignment

Your workplace plan is final, and we’ll now present you with project specifics in the form of one concise printed document. Every piece of office furniture will be outlined, along with finishes, colors and technology. We’ll then call the design phase a success and move on to the formal proposal and procurement process.
